Algo que también llamó mucho la atención es que en esta ocasión fueron nominadas 10 cintas en el rubro de mejor película, en lugar de las 5 tradicionales. Otro detalle es que en el aspecto de Mejor película extranjera figuran dos Latinoamericanas: El Secreto de Sus Ojos y La Teta Asustada, representando a Argentina y Perú respectivamente.
